Application Software

Application software consists of programs created to perform a specific user’s task. It consists of the programs which carry out the specific processing required for user’s application, such as an accounting system or an engineering computer aided design package.

Application software allows a user to prepare a document, design a financial worksheet, or created a useful database.

It can be defined as a set of programs written in a specific any programming language to solve a particular problem.

When people think of the different programs that people use to improve the efficiency in the workplace, they can be classified as application software. The application software consist of programs designed to make users more productive and/or assist them with personal tasks.

It is intended to support the operation and it is independent of the machine on which it is operated.

Most users do not write their own software programs – either system software or application software – because they can buy ready to use software.
