Android operating system

Mobiles have become popular among users for their various features especially intelligent mobiles that can access the internet and e-mail.

But the unknown soldier that works behind the curtains and securing all the elements is the operating system. Android is such a software platform for mobile devices such as cell phones and tablets.
It was initially developed by Android Inc. Google purchased this Android operating system from its initial developer in 2005.

Android is an embedded software platform based on the Linux 2.6. kernel. The Application Programming Interface (API) for Android is written in C and the application software has Java-compatible libraries.

Android is an open-source platform and the source code is available under Apache License. It has a large community of developers for writing Android-based applications.
